Horiot NV ‘Metisse’ Champagne Brut Nature and Pierre Cotton 2018 Régnié Cru Beaujolais.

I always love to drink Champagne during Thanksgiving/Friendsgiving. Horiot’s ‘Metisse’ is a unique combo of Pinot Noir + Pinot Blanc. It has the perfect amount of gravitas from the old vine Pinot Noir and extended lees aging, and the bright finish offers robustness. It shows richness yet light enough to pair with lighter Thanksgiving fare.
I love love love Pierre Cotton and was fortunate enough to visit him this fall. His Régnié shows a sense of place and terroir and has just the right amount of funk to create a complex Beauj. It’s supple but lively, with bright raspberry flavors and a spicy note that makes it distinctive and hold up to thanksgiving fare.
