A Study in Syrah
The mainstream wine press is always wondering when Syrah will have its momement, claiming the grape never fulfilled its 'Next Great Thing' promise. Indeed, there were acres and acres of new Syrah planted in California in the 90s in anticipation, but Pinot Noir seemed to the steal the thunder.
Part of the problem was that Syrah was planted in places that maybe it shouldn't have been, and made into somewhat indifferent wine. That said, we have always loved Syrah, and think that the grape is a great transmitter of place. Check out these 4 Syrahs from around the world and we think you'll agree!
